H & H Fund

 
The Hartford and Houtz Fund was established by the last will and testament of Thomas Hartford on April 4th, 1845 and Jacob Houtz in September 1867. The monies resulted from the sale of their land and the use of the fund was and currently is regulated by a board of trustees. Today the Hartford and Houtz Fund is available for families in Canton City that are in need of financial assistance to help make ends meet and meet the following qualifications for this one time loan:
 
Requirements:
  • Must be a resident of City of Canton
  • Must fall below poverty level of income for family size or incurred catastrophic expenses
  • Must be an emergency situation 
  • Must be able to remedy the situation by a one time grant.  H&H cannot be used for an on-going need.  It is a one time $300 or less grant and cannot be used again unless paid back by the individual.
  • Must have a job
  • Must have a child in the house
  • If rent or utility……..must have an eviction notice or disconnect notice
